Manali becomes a heaven in the mid of November when winter has almost started. The whole atmosphere starts to feel chilly winds, the first flakes appear, and the mountains themselves are full of serenity.
Whether you want adventure, peace, or experience within this place, Manali is a place for all. I recently visited this beautiful hill station during this time, and I’m excited to share my experience and recommendations for the 10 best places to visit in Manali during November.
Solang Valley – The Adventure Hub
Solang Valley is a must-visit destination in November, especially for the thrill-seekers. As the valley begins getting its initial layers of snow, it becomes a winter sports destination. Here, you can engage in paragliding, skiing, and zorbing.
That’s where I had my first-ever snowball fight, amidst snow-clad peaks-an experience never to be forgotten! If you are one seeking excitement along with scenic beauty, then you have to visit Solang Valley.
Rohtang Pass – Winter Heaven
Rohtang Pass normally closes during the last fortnight of November due to heavy snowfall, but if you are lucky enough to visit the place in the first fortnight, be prepared for a gorgeous snow scene that would be unforgettable.
The panoramic views of the Himalayas are simply breathtaking. Do check the weather before you go as the pass can be very unpredictable sometimes. I was speechless during my visit by the snow-capped peaks, and that will be a lifetime’s memory.
Hadimba Temple – A Spiritual Retreat in Nature
This ancient temple lies deep inside the lush green deodar forests dedicated to the goddess Hadimba. Its architecture is quite unique and peaceful with a soothing influence when the greenery complements around it, especially in November when the air is cool, refreshing the experience overall.
I spent an afternoon here, walking through the peaceful forest trails and soaking in the calm, spiritual environment. This makes it a peaceful refuge from the more bustling tourist spots because of its location as well as the tranquility that pervades this temple.
Old Manali – Soul of the Town
November would be the best time to visit Old Manali, a calm and peaceful area that gives out a laid back feel. With hardly any tourists around, you can walk leisurely on these narrow streets lined up by small cafes, compact shops, and apple orchards.
I remember sipping a ginger tea from one of those cafes, gazing at the snow-topped mountains, simple yet magical. Old Manali has an old-world charm, coupled with a tinge of modern hippie culture.
Vashisht Hot Springs – Warm Up
This November in Manali, the cold might make you wish you had some warmth, and that is just what you get at Vashisht Hot Springs. The natural hot springs located near a small village of Vashisht, a few kilometers away from Manali, were a gift in that cold weather.
I went there during the late afternoon, and after a full day of just walking around, it was highly relaxing to soak in those warm, mineral-rich waters. The nearby temple and the serenity of the small village make it a must-visit place.
Jogini Waterfalls – A Serene Hike
Though November was bringing cooler temperature, it was still very much worth it to make a hike to Jogini Waterfalls.
It is located just a few kilometers from Vashisht village and offers a great trek through the forest with splendid views of the snow. The run of the waterfalls in the clear winter air was refreshing, and the beauty of cascading water against the backdrop of the snow-clad mountains was mesmerizing.
The peacefulness of the location, with hardly any tourists around in November, made it seem as if it is a secret treasure.
Manu Temple – History and Mythology
The Manu temple is another spiritual retreat to visit in November dedicated to the sage Manu, believed by many to be the creator of human civilization. It is located in Old Manali.
One has to climb quite a bit to get there, but it’s totally worth the effort from the top. I went to this temple as the sun was still rising over the hills.
I chose to come really early in November, and the crispness in the air along with the serene ambiance made the whole experience worthwhile. The history of the temple coupled with the surrounding scenic beauty makes it very special.
Nehru Kund – A Hidden Gem
For those seeking a tranquil, scenic abode, Nehru Kund is a natural spring that is named after India’s first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru. Nehru Kund lies on the Manali-Leh highway and its water is crystal clear, produced from Bhrigu Lake. It becomes an ideal place for a day-night halt because its still cool fresh water amidst serenity provides an ideal opportunity to absorb surroundings. I must have sat near the spring surrounded by the silence of tranquility and wonder how untouched this place remained even at the relatively busier tourist season.
Manali Wildlife Sanctuary – Nature at Its Best
If you’re a nature lover like me, then don’t miss the Manali Wildlife Sanctuary in November. Places to visit in Himachal include this beautiful sanctuary that turns quite quiet and less busy with a drop in temperatures.
You can easily spot local wildlife such as the Himalayan Monal-state bird of Himachal, ibex, etc. One would take an easy walk through the dense forests of the sanctuary.
With every step taken, it was a complete immersion into nature, beginning from the crisp atmosphere to the sounds of the forest, it was one of the most peaceful times on my tour.
Mall Road – The Shopping Heaven
Nobody’s visit to Manali is considered complete unless he or she takes a walk down the town’s main street, the Mall Road. During November, it is less crowded here.
This is an ideal time to shop for souvenirs, woolen clothes, or the latest handicrafts locally produced, without the bustle of course.
There’s so much that I have loved about the small shops and how I could pick up woolen scarves, wooden items made, and, of course, apple-based products, for which Manali is very famous. It’s an excellent place to end your day here with a steaming plate of momos or a hot cup of chai.
Final Thoughts
November is such a magical time to visit Manali. The crisp air, the beginning of snowfall, and the more solitary tourist spots create an experience that is both peaceful and awe-inspiring.
Whether you are here for adventure, culture, or just to unwind, Manali has something special in store for everyone during November. I will never forget my trip to Manali, and these places added more layers of joy to the experience.
So pack your warm clothes, head to the mountains, and get ready to fall in love with Manali.
Happy travels!
