About : Chehni Kothi tower is of stone and wood in one of the historical locations of Tirthan Valley. It is earthquake-proof and bears the harsh cold winter surrounded by the Himalayan Mountains. It is one of the unexplored places in Tirthan valley.

Chehni Kothi is taller than Kamru and Kalpa and similar to other fort structures. This traditional structure is the tallest in Himachal Pradesh.

The small village where the tower is situated is in the Banjar upper region. The hill station attracts hikers to visit the tower on foot. The Chehni Kothi is located in Banjar region of Bini, Kullu, Himachal Pradesh. This is a small village with very few homes made only of stone and wood. You can go there to experience and enjoy the true Himalayan village.

What Makes The Chehni Kothi Special?

Chehni Kothi was built in the 17th century by king Dhadhu as a defensive tower in Chehni Village of Himachal Pradesh. The kothi was originally seven storey tall but the top two storeys was destroyed in the Kangra earthquake of 1905. It features traditional Kath Kuni architecture with stone and wood layers for earthquake resistance. It is approximately 45 m high and is considered one of the highest temple tower of its kind in the western Himalayas.

How Do I Visit Chehni Kothi?

There are two ways to get there. One option is to take a 4×4 car up to the village, while the other is to hike from the Shringa Rishi temple gate for 45 minutes to an hour.
