What is the story behind Serolsar Lake?

Serolsar Lake is said to be the home of Budhi Naagin, the mother of all Nag (Snake) Deities in Himachal, including SheshNag, KamruNag, GhundaNag, and MahuNag, among others, who resides in her golden palace at the lake’s bottom. 

A common story narrates how a Brahmin fell into the lake but was saved by Budhi Nagin on the condition that he never mention his meeting. When the Brahmin finally shared his experience with others, he died soon after. Because of this tradition, Serolsar Lake maintains great religious significance for the locals.

Camping is prohibited in any area surrounding the lake. If you want to camp, another 30 minutes of hiking from the lake will take you to a clearing where you can.
